Iredell County Sheriff's Office Arrests Charlotte Man on Drug Charges

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. – Kenyatta Smoot, 31, was arrested during a traffic stop and faces multiple drug charges after being found in possession of 15 grams of cocaine, according to a news release.

The release states that on September 2, Smoot was stopped for a traffic violation on Waterlynn Ridge Road and acted suspiciously according to Deputy Zalepka.

A search of the vehicle was carried out and MP Zalepka said he found:

• 15.5 grams of cocaine individually wrapped
• Eight dosage units of buprenorphine
• 23 dosage units of alprazolam
• 13 dosage units of lorazepam
• Six dosage units of clonazepam
• A fully loaded Smith and Wesson pistol
• $1,7440

Smoot was arrested and is charged with:

• Criminal possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine
• Offense of possession of a vehicle for a controlled substance
• Offense of simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance
• Three counts of misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance
• Concealed Weapon Carrying Offense
• Misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia
• Drug paraphernalia possession offense
