Kaeden Holland Gets 25 Years • Hollywood Unlocked

A teenager facing adult charges for a violent assault on a bus belonging to Prince George's County Public Schools received a sentence of 60 years on Friday. However, the court suspended all but 25 years of this sentence for the offense of attempted first-degree murder.

Seventeen-year-old Kaeden Holland, also known as 'Baby K' faced adult charges of attempted murder stemming from an incident involving a 14-year-old boy on a Prince George's County school bus in May 2023. He pleaded guilty to the charges of attempted first-degree murder and entered into a plea agreement, as reported by the Office of the State's Attorney for Prince George's County. On May 1, 2023, three masked teenagers ran onto a Prince George's County Public Schools bus and assaulted a 14-year-old student. During the attack, Holland aimed a gun at the boy and attempted to shoot him three times, but the weapon jammed and did not discharge.

“It was clear he had a mission that day, and it was clear we had a mission today, which was to hold him accountable and to get justice for our community and our victims,” Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha Braveboy said during a press conference. “You heard that the mother of our young victim had to move from this area in order to protect her son, and her son still doesn't feel completely protected. He still cannot ride the school bus. His life has changed forever. You heard from the bus driver who is going through PTSD, who's not only had emotional and mental health concerns, but also physical health concerns.”

Following the incident, authorities detained two of the three teenagers involved, while the search for Holland persisted. On May 30, US Marshals apprehended Holland.

Braveboy mentioned that charges have been filed against the other two suspects, but she refrained from discussing the specifics of their cases. Once Holland's sentencing is concluded on Friday, he will be placed in an adult correctional facility.

Although the school bus driver remained silent during the press conference, the president of her union expressed approval of the lengthy sentence handed down.

“Students and staff need to feel safe and secure everyday. By prioritizing employee safety, we also safeguard the well-being of our children, maintain the integrity of our education system, and reinforce the respect and appreciation these professionals deserve,” said Essence Herndon. “We applaud how seriously the office of State's Attorney Braveboy has taken this case, and while we wish this event never occurred, we appreciate the sentence that has imposed, and we hope this brings closure to the PGCPS employees and students directly affected by the unfortunate incident.”
