Search underway for daughter of former MLB pitcher

Brenna Swindell, 29, was reported missing by Austin police Monday morning. She was last seen Thursday at a bar in Texas and her car was spotted in Colorado, police said.

The daughter of a former MLB pitcher has been reported missing by her family in Austin and the 29-year-old mother of three is now the subject of a multi-state search, authorities said Monday.

Brenna Swindell is the daughter of longtime pitcher Greg Swindell, who played for the University of Texas and had a 17-year MLB career. She has been missing from the Austin area since last Thursday, according to a Facebook post by Brenna's mother, Sarah Swindell.

This disappearance is not typical of Brenna, who “would never abandon her three children or leave without an explanation,” the message reads.

According to the Austin Police Department, Brenna Swindell and her ex-boyfriend, Morgan Guidry, were last seen together around 10:20 p.m. Thursday at Poodies Hilltop Roadhouse in Spicewood, Texas, about 35 miles northwest of Austin. Law enforcement tracked her white 2022 Kia Carnival, registered to Texas VFS 7528, to Colorado Friday night.

According to a flyer shared by the organization Missing People in America, Brenna Swindell's ex-boyfriend and his van may have been spotted in Colorado Springs.

Brenna Swindell and her ex-boyfriend's phones “appear to be (in Colorado) but both are turned off,” her mother's Facebook post said.

Brenna Swindell is 5'5″ and weighs about 120 pounds. She has shoulder-length brown hair. She has a sleeve tattoo of flowers on one arm and a spider web on the other shoulder, according to her mother's post.

The Austin Police Department's Missing Persons Unit can be reached at 512-974-5250. If you live outside of Austin and need to make a report, please call 512-974-5000.

Who is Greg Swindell?

Brenna's father, Greg Swindell, was a longtime pitcher who played for the University of Texas and pitched in MLB for 17 years.

Swindell was also an All-Star with the Cleveland Indians, now the Guardians, and a World Series winner with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001. He also played for the Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox.

He went 12-8 with a 2.70 ERA in his lone season with the Reds in 1992.

A native of Texas, Swindell was born in Fort Worth.
