Tottenham teenager has enjoyed 'huge success' behind the scenes, leaving Ange Postecoglou gobsmacked

Tottenham's summer transfer window has already proven to be a success in the eyes of many, with several key positions filled.

One thing is for sure: Daniel Levy has not hesitated at Tottenham this summer, with over £100m spent on new signings.

Archie Gray has already been tipped as a “big hit” by Harry Redknapp, while Lucas Bergvall is already impressing Dominic Solanke behind the scenes.

Ange Postecoglou has never shied away from giving youngsters a chance since taking charge of the north London outfit, as evidenced by the last time Wilson Odobert was given a straight start against Everton.

And, if Alasdair Gold's latest behind-the-scenes insights at Spurs are to be believed, it's easy to see why Ange has made this decision…

Wilson Odobert already a 'big success' at Tottenham

Odobert made an impressive debut for the Lilywhites against Everton, where he played 67 minutes. He left the pitch with an 86% pass completion rate, winning two dribbles and two aerial duels.

All the hard work he has put in at Hotspur Way is starting to pay off as now the fans can see his qualities, not just Postecoglou and his coaching staff.

Alasdair Gold has shared exactly what everyone at Tottenham thinks of him on his YouTube channel.

“Odobert has been a big success behind the scenes so far, in terms of impressing Postecoglou and the coaching staff. He just has this tremendous ability, technique, speed, he dribbles fearlessly and goes, goes, goes, goes.”

Ange wasn't the only one to appreciate the Frenchman as James Maddison also hailed Odobert as a “real threat”.

Will Odobert start for Tottenham against Newcastle?

There certainly couldn't have been much more he could have done to put his name in the hat for a second consecutive start for the Lilywhites. But, one thing that could influence Ange Postecoglou's thinking is injuries, as Solanke could return to face Newcastle in early September.

Brennan Johnson took criticism from Simon Jordan in the Spurs' season opener, and the second was arguably worse, which could force Ange's hand.

Newcastle could be the perfect test for Odobert as he is likely to come up against Tino Livramento, who has the pace to match the Frenchman.

These are the kind of games Spurs need to win this season if they want to break into the top four.
