Tazewell County man identified after fatal crash

TAZEWELL COUNTY (25News Now) – A rural Tremont man has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash Saturday in rural Green Valley.

The Tazewell County Coroner's Office said Elmer Papenhause, 90, was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Towerline Road and Toboggan Avenue.

Papenhause's preliminary cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries.

He was alone in the van he was driving. Four people in the other van involved were taken to Peoria Hospital.

First responders were on scene around 11:15 a.m.
