Woman arrested for stabbing mother and son in North Olmsted

A 32-year-old Cleveland woman is behind bars accused of stabbing a customer and her 3-year-old son on June 3 at Giant Eagle, 27264 Lorain Road in North Olmsted, according to a news release from the North Police Department Olmsted.

At 3:03 p.m., North Olmsted police officers responded to several 911 calls regarding a possible stabbing in the grocery store parking lot, the release states.

Upon arrival on scene, police received the description of a suspect and the locations of two victims, according to the press release.

Several police officers were able to take the suspect into custody, while other officers present on the scene began providing first aid to the victims, the statement said.

The condition of the victims was unknown as of the afternoon of June 3, according to the release.

The matter remains under investigation, the release said.

North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones released a statement following the stabbing.

“I am deeply saddened by an incident that occurred this afternoon in the parking lot of the North Olmsted Giant Eagle supermarket,” Dailey Jones said of the stabbing.

“The mother and child were immediately transported to St. John’s University Hospital Medical Center in Westlake, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Our thoughts are with the two victims of what appears to be a random act of violence.

“Once again, our North Olmsted security forces responded quickly and handled the situation with great professionalism. »
