A general brawl broke out on a beach after a teenager decided to take action against a couple who were displaying affection in public

Chaos erupted on a US beach after a teenager threw water at a couple engaged in a very amorous display.

A video of the incident went viral on Monday and shows the couple passionately kissing on the sand in front of other visibly annoyed beachgoers.

A teenager poured a gallon of water on them in an attempt to get them to stop before the man warned him: “I'm going to kick your ass.”

But he started kissing his partner again before another person threw the empty bottle at him and it almost escalated into a mass brawl.

Footage of the incident shows the couple lying on top of each other and kissing on the sandy ground in full view of everyone.

A teenage boy, wearing a navy blue t-shirt and black shorts, walks up to them and begins to empty a bottle of water on them.

The man looks up and threatens to “kick his ass” if he doesn't stop.

But a woman who was swimming and who had criticised the couple's behaviour replied: “You shouldn't. You're on a public beach and there are a lot of children around.”

The man starts kissing his partner again and another person throws the empty water bottle at him to force him to stop.

He immediately jumps up and picks it up before another man angrily confronts him and tells him to “get the hell out of here.”

The man's girlfriend intervenes and restrains him while others yell at the couple.

“What are you doing? There are children here,” shouts another annoyed bather.

“Go to the bathroom. You’re really weird. You’re cheating on your wife here.”

But the woman replies, “No one cheats on their wife,” which frustrates people even more.

A woman sunbathing said: “Is that all you care about? F*** the kids, f*** everyone.”

It is not clear on which beach the incident occurred.
