Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics Arrests Man for Human Trafficking Near I-40

On Monday, the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) Human Trafficking Unit arrested Michael Santiago Martinez, 38, on suspicion of human trafficking.

Authorities told FOX 25 that Martinez was trafficking a female victim for sex at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites near I-40 and Meridian Ave.

Mark Woodward, OBN Public Information Officer, said: “The OBN was notified by another law enforcement agency of a possible human trafficking victim they discovered during a recent unrelated encounter. Upon investigation, our officers found significant evidence that the victim was a victim of trafficking.”

Martinez was transferred to the Oklahoma County Detention Center. He is being held on $250,000 bail.

He is also charged with pimping, operating a place of prostitution or soliciting prostitution, and accessing a computer system or network with unlawful intent.

As of Monday, investigators did not know whether the suspect was involved in trafficking other victims.

Individuals wishing to report information about this or any other human trafficking case can contact OBN anonymously at (855) 617-2288 or by sending a message on the agency's Facebook page.

We were fortunate to separate this victim from her trafficker and provide her with healing support. And we want other victims of human trafficking to know that they don't have to be afraid, that they are not alone, and that help is available. – Donnie Anderson, OBN Director
