Thieves sentenced for stealing $65k in merch from Northland stores in unrelated crimes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Three people are behind bars after they targeted stores across Platte County in unrelated crimes.

“Retail theft continues to skyrocket across the United States, and it's becoming more dangerous all the time. These criminals need to know we will aggressively prosecute prolific or violent shoplifters in Platte County,” Eric Zahnd, Platte County Prosecuting Attorney said.

The three unrelated cases involve a number of popular stores and more than $65,000 worth of stolen property over a number of years, according to court documents.

A Platte County judge sentenced Marvin Calhoun to 20 years for first degree robbery and 10 years for armed criminal action on Monday, Aug. 19. The sentences will run concurrently and Calhoun must serve 85% of the sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Calhoun robbed the Dick's Sporting Goods store in Zona Rosa on Oct. 5, 2018. Court documents show he pulled a gun and threatened a store employee as he left the store with a basket of Kansas City Chiefs merchandise.

In an unrelated case, a judge sentenced Asia Marshall to seven years in prison for second-degree robbery and 11 other crimes after she pleaded guilty. Court documents show Marshall committed the crimes between May and December 2023.

Court documents show Marshall robbed the Bath and Body Works at Zona Rosa with another person. While in court, Marshall admitted that the other person repeatedly punched a clerk before items were stolen.

The documents also show Marshall shoplifted items from the PINK store and Sephora at Zona Rosa and ULTA Beauty Store in Platte County during 2023. The combined thefts totaled more than $35,000, according to documents.

Aaliyah Walker was sentenced to six years behind bars for crimes she committed between March 2021 and March 2024.

Court documents show Walker is responsible for stealing more than $30,000 from Bath and Body Works, Rally House, Sunglasses Hut, Victoria's Secret, and Sephora in Platte County.
