Commanders fire executive for comments about NFL players Roger Goodell and Jerry Jones

The Washington Commanders have fired vice president of content Rael Enteen after a video surfaced online in which he criticized the team's players for being gay, accused Jerry Jones of being racist and said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was a “$50 million puppet” controlled by the league's owners.

Additionally, Enteen made crude remarks about Commanders fans and football fans in general, calling them “high school alcoholics” and “mouth breathers.”

Enteen was suspended by Washington on Wednesday after the video began circulating on social media after being posted by O'Keefe Media Group. The comments were made during a conversation with an undercover reporter he met on a dating app, who secretly filmed their encounter.

Enteen said Roger Goodell was nothing more than an expensive puppet controlled by NFL team owners, and singled out Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, as the individual running the league.

“I don't think the commissioner of the NFL hates gays, hates blacks. Jerry Jones, who actually runs the NFL, I think he hates gays, hates blacks,” Enteen told the reporter.

In a statement released Wednesday, commanders announced they had suspended Enteen. They then fired him Thursday following an internal investigation.

“The language used in the video goes against our values as a Commanders organization,” a team spokesperson said, via the Washington Post.

James O'Keefe, founder of O'Keefe Media Group, told The Associated Press that the Enteen videos were taken on two different dates in June.

Enteen had been with the Commanders since 2020 and previously spent time in the New York Jets organization.
