YouTube Demonetized Dr Disrespect Over Alleged Twitch Inappropriate Behavior Involving Minor

Since he is banned from twitch Four years ago, streamer Dr Disrespect amassed millions of subscribers on his new YouTube platform.

However, now that the reason for his ban from Twitch has become public, Dr Disrespect may need to find another new platform to stream on.

YouTube has confirmed that he has suspended Dr Disrespect, whose real name is Herschel “Guy” Beahm, from his partner program effectively demonetizes his channel.

“We have suspended the channel DrDisrespect from the YouTube Partner Program following serious allegations against the creator,” read a statement provided to media by a YouTube spokesperson. “This action means the channel is no longer able to monetize on YouTube.”

What did Dr. Disrespect do?

Beahm, aka Dr Disrespect, was a popular Twitch streamer until he was banned from the platform in 2020. For years, the reason for his ban was unknown to the public.

Then on June 21, a former Twitch employee appeared confirmed Why Dr Disrespect was banished from the platform where he had millions of followers: The streamer allegedly exchanged inappropriate messages via Twitch with a minor.

The potential reason for Dr Disrespect's ban on Twitch in 2020 quickly became a trending topic online. Forced to address the issue, Beahm first attempted to dismiss the allegations before issuing a second statement confirming that he had exchanged “inappropriate” messages with a minor through a since-shuttered Twitch messaging feature.

“Were there whispered messages on Twitch with a minor in 2017? The answer is yes,” Beahm said. published on his @DrDisrespect account about Elon Musk's X. “If there were real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely no. These were informal, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much toward the inappropriate.”

Why was Dr Disrespect demonetized on YouTube?

Even though Beahm's inappropriate conduct with a minor occurred on Twitch, his confirmation of the allegations meant that YouTube now had a legitimate reason to suspend him from the company's monetization program.

“Our Creator Responsibility Guidelines make clear that if a creator's behavior off-platform harms our users, employees, or ecosystem, we can take action to protect our community, including suspending monetization,” reads YouTube’s statement on the demonetization of Dr Disrespect’s YouTube channel. “While these behaviors are rare, they can cause widespread harm to the YouTube community and potentially damage trust between creators, users and advertisers. »

It's unclear how much Beahm will lose as a result of his channel Dr Disrespect being demonetized. Estimates from analytics platform YouTube Social Blade Estimates put the chain's revenue in the six-figure range per year. However, these estimates do not take into account Beahm's losses from the loss of exclusive partnership contracts.

Although Beahm claims that Twitch ended up paying him for the partnership agreement that both parties had as part of the settlement, a Rolling stone A report revealed that Beahm lost out on a potential similar deal with YouTube.

YouTube’s former head of gaming partnerships Ryan Wyatt told the outlet that the company couldn’t independently confirm the allegations years ago. But rumors YouTube heard about Beahm’s inappropriate interactions with a minor led the company to abandon any attempts to partner with the streamer.

Now we know that those rumors were true. As a result, Beahm not only lost any sort of exclusive deal with YouTube, but also the basic monetization of creators on the Dr Disrespect YouTube channel.
