Man escapes manhunt after stabbing in Stafford

A Stafford man sparked a disturbance in a North Stafford neighborhood Tuesday after allegedly stabbing another man during an argument, police said.

Sheriff's spokesman Ryan Wilbur said police were called shortly after 5 a.m. to the Crystal Lake mobile home park. That's where they found the victim, who had been stabbed two or three times during an argument inside a residence.

The victim was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Wilbur said. The suspect was identified as Jamie Flores, who is charged with assault and battery.

Police spent much of the morning searching for Flores before determining he was no longer in the area. Wilbur said there was a delay in reporting the incident, which gave the suspect a good head start on getting away.

In what police described as an “abundance of caution,” officers remained on scene to ensure the safety of students boarding school buses. The suspect had not been apprehended as of Tuesday evening.
