Man, Two Students Charged in Texas School Threats

Three people, including two students, face criminal charges for their alleged roles in threats related to schools in Arlington, Texas.

Administrators and school resource officers at Arlington High School were alerted Thursday to a potential threat posted on social media. Investigators determined the posts were created by Kevin Martinez-Molina, 18, and interviewed him, according to a news release.

Martinez-Molina, who is not a student at the school, told police he posted the message as a joke, the statement said. He was arrested and booked into Arlington County Jail on a charge of making a terroristic threat.

Police said they believed the threat was inspired by other threatening messages shared widely online last week.

That same day, a student at Gunn Junior High School Fine Arts and Dual Language Academy was taken into custody after making a verbal threat against the school and people who were “extremely concerned about what they heard,” told police, the statement said.

A Lamar High School student was taken into custody Friday after allegedly sending a message “threatening violence against a staff member,” the statement said.

The two students, who have not been publicly identified because of their ages, are charged with making a terroristic threat and were taken to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center, police said.

“The Arlington Police Department will not tolerate behavior that disrupts students’ ability to learn or causes fear,” the statement said. “We continue to encourage parents to have open and honest conversations with their children about the consequences of threats. This is NEVER a joke and we will never treat it as such.”
