Authorities on Monday released the names of two people who died in traffic crashes in the San Diego area last week.

The first of two fatal crashes occurred around 11 p.m. Thursday, when the driver of a BMW sedan lost control of the car on westbound State Route 76 at Loretta Street in Oceanside, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

The vehicle struck a center divider and overturned, ejecting a passenger, Xavior Meadows, 22, of Oceanside, the agency reported. Paramedics took Meadows to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he was pronounced dead.

The second fatal crash happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. Friday on Country Club Road in Borrego Springs, according to the medical examiner. Cynthia Soller, 89, was driving southbound when her Subaru SUV veered off the road and struck a palm tree.

Medics airlifted Soller to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where she died about 12 hours later.
