AIADMK: AIADMK member arrested for posting death threats on Facebook | Chennai News

Chennai: A AIADMK member was arrested to post a death threat on Facebookvowing to avenge his brother's murder last year.
Police, who arrested Natarajan, 55, on Saturday, said his younger brother Parthiban, 54, also an AIADMK functionary and former panchayat president, was hacked to death in Padianallur during his morning walk on August 17, 2023.
Natarajan, who warned of retaliation in the Facebook post “The Countdown Begins,” has been remanded in custody.
His wife Jayalakshmi is the president of Padianallur panchayat, police said.
Parthiban, a resident of Modiamman Nagar in Red Hills, was the deputy secretary of Amma Peravai's East Tiruvallur wing. He had been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with a Red Sanders smuggling case. He had been released on bail just weeks before his murder. Two suspects, Muthu Saravanan and 'Sunday' Sathish, were shot dead in October 2023 by the police near Sholavaram, and six others were arrested in connection with the murder.
Police said Natarajan was earlier arrested in September 2021 for threatening a social activist who had lodged a complaint with the chief minister's cell regarding illegal sand mining in Tiruvallur district.
