BANGKOK, Thailand – Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra appeared in good spirits on August 26, showing little concern over the petition filed to dissolve the Pheu Thai party over allegations of his influence.

At 2pm, Thaksin was seen leaving Shinawatra 3 Tower, where he stopped briefly to greet the media. Asked about the ongoing petition filed with the Election Commission (EC) alleging that he controlled the party, Thaksin laughed lightly and replied: “I don’t know. Don’t worry.”

Asked whether he intended to clarify the situation or whether he was concerned about Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thaksin only laughed, without giving a direct answer. He smiled warmly before getting into his car and leaving the scene.

His cheerful demeanor appears to have brushed aside any immediate concerns about the legal challenges facing the Pheu Thai party.
