Teenager arrested for father's murder in Delhi's Rohini

NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old boy allegedly hit his father on the head with a plastic pipe, killing him instantly, in a fit of rage when the latter was arguing with his wife, the boy's mother, at their residence in Aman Vihar area of ​​Rohini in northwest Delhi, a senior police official said on Sunday. The accused teenager has been apprehended by the police, he added.

DCP (Rohini) Guriqbal Singh Sidhu shared details of the incident and said that a local police team reached the crime scene where a man was found unconscious. He was later taken to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. “Initial investigation revealed that the deceased used to beat his wife and children over petty matters while he was in an inebriated state,” the DCP said.

On Sunday, an argument broke out between the couple, leading to the deceased hitting his wife several times. Their 16-year-old son tried to intervene to calm the dispute, but to no avail. As the argument escalated into violence, the accused teenager attacked his father with a plastic pipe, hitting him in the head.

According to DCP Sidhu, “On Sunday, the deceased had an argument with his wife and was beating her, when his son intervened and hit his father on the head with a plastic pipe, resulting in his death.”

Based on the preliminary investigation and the circumstances leading to the incident, the police have registered a case of murder against the accused boy and apprehended him, the officer said, adding that further investigation is underway.
