Man with fork threatens Pinecrest valet, then stabs maintenance worker: Orange Police Blotter

ORANGE, Ohio

Disorderly Conduct: Park Avenue

A Pinecrest valet reported at 7:23 p.m. Aug. 30 that the man punched him for money, then pulled a fork out of his pocket and mumbled something as he backed away.

Police began combing the area, then received a call from a maintenance worker reporting that he had just been stabbed in the face with a fork in the 200 block of Park.

Police found the suspect, identified as a 28-year-old Cleveland man, in the 400 block, now walking shirtless.

The maintenance man said he was driving a golf cart when the suspect approached him demanding money, and when he said “what?” the suspect, in an unprovoked attack, stabbed him near the ear.

Although the victim declined to press charges for the attack, Cuyahoga County Magistrate Court records show the suspect had been charged earlier with a felony assault charge stemming from a March 15 incident in Cleveland.

From there, he was remanded to the court's psychiatric clinic on November 16, 2023. Five days later, on November 21, he was involved in a vandalism incident that led to another indictment by Cleveland police, although that case was also dismissed.

The maintenance worker was assessed by medics but was not taken to hospital. The suspect was taken to Ahuja Medical Centre and released to staff following an emergency admission filed by Orange Police for further psychiatric assessment.

The suspect, whose address is listed as a men's shelter in Cleveland, was also cited for disorderly conduct.

Theft without consent (credit card): Boulevard du Chagrin

A man reported shortly before noon on Aug. 31 that his credit card had been stolen from the Take 5 car wash eight days earlier.

He said he gave his Capital One card to the car wash attendant and then received a call later that day saying he had left his credit card behind.

When he arrived to pick it up, he was told that neither the car wash attendant nor the card itself was in the office. He then began receiving notices that his card was being used at Lowe's in Bedford Heights ($463), the Macedonia Walmart ($254) and then for $15.98 at Sam's Club.

The victim requested documentation and Capital One reimbursed him for the disputed charges.

Tinted windows, impaired driving, open container: Orange Place

A traffic officer stationed near the former Bahama Breeze at 8:10 p.m. on Sept. 1 noticed a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound with windows that appeared to have an illegal amount of tint.

He conducted a traffic stop near Restoration Hardware (formerly Slyman's Restaurant), where the driver showed signs of possible impairment after the window was rolled down.

The officer also noticed an open bottle of Patron tequila, one-third empty, on the rear floorboard. The driver reported drinking two drinks at a party at a Pinecrest establishment.

He appeared to have difficulty keeping his balance and later refused to take a breathalyzer test at Solon Jail, causing the truck to be towed and impounded.
