Minor stabbed in Pleasanton, suspect wanted

PLEASANTON — A suspect is being sought in connection with the stabbing Monday afternoon of a juvenile who was trying to flee in a vehicle before it crashed, authorities said.

The victim, whose age was not disclosed, was treated and released at the hospital. Police said he was a teenager but did not say where he lived.

Authorities said the boy was stabbed in the torso around 2:55 p.m. Monday during an altercation with another juvenile that occurred outside on Harrison Street. Investigators have not said what happened.

Police said that after being stabbed, the young man got into a vehicle and drove away, but crashed a short distance away.

He, the suspect and other individuals present fled on foot, police said.

After an extensive search that included air support from the East Bay Regional Park District helicopter, officers located the victim in the area.

The knife used in the attack was also found, police said.

Investigators determined the victim knew the person who stabbed her. Police said the stabbing appears to be an isolated incident and there is no indication of a broader threat.

Authorities were trying to identify other people present.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 925-931-5100.
