Pastor's home hit by at least 30 bullets, police say

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) – A pastor and his family are safe after their home was hit by heavy gunfire overnight.

The Wilson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting that left the home of Greg Locke, pastor of Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet, riddled with damage.

The sheriff's office said gunfire erupted outside the home late Tuesday night.

Locke said that when he returned home with his family, he found his house had been shot at by a “madman.”

The sheriff's office confirmed that Locke's home was hit by 30 to 50 bullets during the shooting. Damage was found to the exterior of the home, vehicles parked outside and inside the home.

Locke's son was home at the time but was not injured.

“Only one of our children was home and, thank God, he was not in the same area of ​​the house,” the pastor said.

Locke said he believes he narrowly missed the encounter with the shooter who shot at his home, by just minutes, according to security footage recorded at his property.

Locke is the founder and senior pastor of Global Vision Bible Church in Mt. Juliet. The church has been the target of vandalism and widespread criticism in recent years due to the strong stances Locke and his congregation have taken on social issues and related political campaigns.

Locke recently announced that his church would be moving.

The church often holds revivals which cause significant traffic problems for Mt. Juliet residents.
