Massive CoD Leaks Reveal Early Plans for 2025 and 2026 Games, Warzone 3 Testing

A massive series of Call of Duty leaks from CoD HQ's latest update have revealed codenames, weapon lists, and more for what appear to be the next two games. To top it all off, we also have the first mention of a Warzone 3 as well as some future plans for DMZ.

With CoD now consolidated under a single app, CoD HQ, every time a new launcher update is released, dataminers roll up their sleeves and get to work sifting through the endless lines of code buried within.

This time around, after an update in late August 2024, CoD's most prolific leakers have uncovered some of the first mentions of what appear to be the next two CoD installments. Following Black Ops 6's release in stores on October 25, 2024, insiders are claiming that we'll be getting Modern Warfare 4 and Black Ops 7, though the order in which they'll be released remains a contentious topic of discussion.

Several codenames have been discovered in the latest CoD HQ update. “Sat,” short for Saturn, is the codename for one, Rex and Rap are the codenames for two others. With data strings accompanying the first two revealing everything from weapon names to the features that come with them, the leakers are connecting some of the dots years before release.

Obviously, since we're still in the early stages of development, it's best to take everything said here with a grain of salt. Plans can and often do change throughout the development cycle of a game behind closed doors, so with each change, the information here is either wrong or already outdated.

But if these early reports prove true, leakers claim that Saturn is set to be Black Ops 7, while Rex is set to be Modern Warfare 4. The 2026 title, allegedly being led by Infinity Ward, is being accompanied by what is internally labeled as Warzone 3.

Although Warzone 2 was eventually scrapped and the series returned to its original title, Warzone, it seems that this codename is being used to signify the third major relaunch of the battle royale. This could indicate all the new maps, modes, features, mechanics, and more, just like we saw when the original made the jump to Warzone 2.

As noted on X (formerly Twitter), a leaker has confirmed that Warzone 2 is still the internal name used for the current version of Warzone.

Additionally, there are some lines of code that reference DMZ as part of Project Rex. It would certainly make sense for this to be Modern Warfare 4, as DMZ was an Infinity Ward project through and through.

While DMZ did attract some audiences, it ultimately failed to match Warzone's impact on the battle royale genre. Regardless, if these dataminings are accurate, it looks like early testing is now underway for another iteration of DMZ mode that's set to arrive in the next couple of years.

Again, it's still very early days as we write this, so the best-laid plans can still be upended. Rest assured, we'll keep you updated with the latest news once Black Ops 6 is behind us and fans are turning their attention to the upcoming release like clockwork.
