PTC News Desk: Seven Bengaluru jail officials have been suspended following an investigation into a viral photo and video showing Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa receiving alleged VIP treatment in jail.

“Police have reached the spot to investigate. Seven officers have been suspended after a preliminary inquiry revealed their involvement. We are now conducting further investigations into the matter. Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwar called it a serious security breach.

The issue arose after a photograph of Darshan, who is currently in judicial custody at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case, was leaked online.

The images show the actor in a relaxed pose, sitting on a chair and holding a cigarette and a cup of coffee, surrounded by three other people. According to some accounts, the people seen with Darshan include criminal Wilson Garden Naga, the actor's manager and co-accused Nagaraj and Kulla Seena, an inmate. A video showing Darshan talking to someone via video call has also surfaced.

The incident sparked a public outcry, with many people outraged over the alleged special treatment given to Darshan.

Darshan, along with 16 others, including his friend Pavithra Gowda, are currently in judicial custody for Renukaswamy's murder. The case has garnered a lot of attention due to Darshan's fame and the brutality of the crime.
