Seeking better pastures: Yadav on AAP councillors joining BJP

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Sunday criticised the recent defection of five councillors from the Aam Aadmi Party to the BJP, describing their move as “looking for better pastures”.

The Congress leader further criticised the AAP for its lack of leadership in the absence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar Jail in connection with the alleged liquor scam and money laundering case.

Yadav claimed that the BJP has a history of including public representatives in its party to come to power. It is now adopting the same tactics to form the Standing Committee and capture the ward committees in the Delhi Municipal Corporation as this week, the process of election of the Ward Committee followed by the Standing Committee will begin in the Municipal Corporation.

He also claimed that due to delay in formation of Standing Committee and Ward Committees of the Corporation, sanitation and other development works in Delhi colonies have come to a complete standstill.

He said that the political blame game between BJP and AAP is visible in Delhi on every issue related to public but no one is working for the welfare of the public, to provide these rights and facilities.

He added that due to their non-functional style of working, AAP and BJP involve administrative officers in politics in fighting allegations and counter-allegations.

Talking about the support for the civic committee elections, Yadav said the Congress would keep its vote neutral and our nine councillors would work as per the Congress ideology.
